It was an honor for me to compose the score for this film about the life of one of Mexico's most important artists Francisco Toledo. Most famous for his graphic and ceramic work, his life as a philanthropist and social activist is less well known: Leading struggles to keep gmo corn out of the state, saving historic monuments from becoming 5 star hotels and instead creating museums, successfully keeping a fast food chain out of the zocalo of Oaxaca, the list is endless. Suffice to say Oaxaca, Mexico would be a far less appealing place without Toledo. This soundtrack was nominated for an Ariel, the mexican equivalent of the oscar, for Best Music 2010. It was the first time a documentary film was recognized in this category.
